Peter Navin

Peter Navin

Peter Navin started flying in January 2002 after his wife, Janice, purchased a TIF and 3 lessons for him as a Christmas present. He had always dreamed of learning to fly but never thought that he would ever have the opportunity to do so. He completed his first solo flight in June. This was followed by his GFPT in October and culminated in him gaining his Private Licence in November 2002. In May 2003 he began NVFR training with Salli Ann and completed his first night solo in June. Then started night navs, always planning to fly to a destination via Bindook but seemed to be always given a diversion by Sal before getting there. He and wife Janice are regulars on WardAir trips away. One memorable trip involved flying to Moruya for a Sunday beach picnic and, unfortunately, the afternoon turned stormy. Peter and David Scott had to thread their way through storm clouds and rain to return to Bathurst before last light. This flight turned out to be a real learning opportunity for both. Peter continued to fly both day VFR and at night unitl being forced to have a break in 2004. He recommenced his flying and night training in mid February 2005 completing hours of night circuits, VOR intercepts and navs until successfully achieving a Night Rating in early May. Peter does not intend to stop training as he is planning to complete his PIFR in the future and he and Janice continue to take part in Ward Air flyaways and enjoy being part of the WardAir family and all that it has to offer.
