Like most people I thought I'd like to be able to fly an aircraft. It wasn't a deep hunger just a background feeling. In early 2002 I got a TIF as a gift and started flying 1 hour a week, still not sure if I wanted to do the full thing. Then in mid 2002 I swept away to London for the rest of the year. While I was there I missed a lot of things back in Aus and it turned out that flying was something I missed the most, so when I returned I got stuck into my GFPT, PPL thoery, Navs etc and passed my PPL. In 2002 I did a constant speed prop and retractable undercarriage rating and have been flying for pleasure since.
It is a great feeling to just wheel out the plane, do the checks and fly away to the city or beach from time to time and I think the coastal trips like Moruya or orbits at the Opera House are my most treasured flights.
I still try to fly every week or so, locally for practice or on various trips. I have started a night rating ( I am a bit behind schedule), and I would like to do some longer trips when I have got the time and opportunity. Flying for me is a serious and fun hobby and some day I would like to do Angel Flight as well.
