This is a great summer adventure. Fly to Wallis Island, tie your aircraft down, arrange a boat to pick you up and spend the day/s around the Wallis Lakes / Foster area.
This strip was used once for RPT service to the area, many years ago. Its a long, wide strip that is well maintained. Respect that it is privately owned and for many years not available to the public. Get permission to land and don't be a nuisance. Camping not allowed and would not recommend as large colony of black snakes and meat ants.
ALA Details: In most guides as Forster. Call 02 65554477 for permission and landing fee.
Fuel: None on the island. Taree is the closest.
Boat Hire: 02 65554477 (for 3 people return plus landing fee approx $60.00 but check)
Accommodation: Lots available in Forster see www.greatlakes.org.au
Tallwoods: 1300 135 456. 15 minutes drive north of Foster. New accommodation, beautiful facilities, championship 18 hole golf course. Perhaps a little isolated without a vehicle, but very friendly and picked us up in Foster and offered us use of a vehicle. Beach nearby.
