Tamworth- Lake Keepit-Barrabra-Tenterfield

Sal and I then decided to hop to a few ALA's on our way up to tenterfield. Lake Keepit was the first stop. There is one long runway with sections of bituman and 3 smaller strips. The smaller strips are hard to pick out so you will need to use your heading bug to orientate yourself if you have to use them. There is heavy glider use in the area as well as winching for the gliders which you have to beware of. The frequency for the gliders is 122.7. We had to land on one of the smaller strips becase of the gliders RWY 20, it has some trees close to your approach that you have to be careful of. It is a beautiful setting by the lake and Sal and I even got asked if we wanted to fly the glider tug for them the next day but unfortunately had to keep going.

Next stop was Barraba. Again this was a fantastic ALA. Give Bob Munson (02) 67821362 a call prior to use. The stip is located south of the show ground and had recently been mowed and was in good condition. There are two mines on either side of the town which help you to find it.
