Depart Strahan for Cambridge.Cambridge is the airport used by General Aviation aircraft at Hobart.
There is Hobart airport in close proximity. The same tower operates both airports. Special procedures apply and it is still Class D airspace. Ask for a WardAir info sheet in regards to operating into Cambridge.
Flight around this West Coast takes approximately 1.6 hours. Be aware of the weather on this side and make sure Hobart is suitable. Call the tower prior departure and ask them what the weather is like and advise them you are unfamiliar with operations into Hobart - they are very helpful.
Be mindful of your fuel and what your options are if the weather looks like deteriorating. Alternatively, consider going in the opposite direction.
Great scenery all along this coast, especially around South West Cape and the Maatsuyker Group.
